Adding an email account to iPhone

Email User Guide for iPhone

Please note that depending on the version of software you are running on your iPhone, some images may look slightly different to your own but the settings will remain the same.

To start you will need the following information:

  • IMAP/POP - incoming server address (mail.yourhostname.co.uk)

Where yourhostname.co.uk is, replace with the domain that you have registered. For example if you registered joeblogs.co.uk the resulting address will be mail.joeblogs.co.uk

  • SMTP - outgoing server address (mail.yourhostname.co.uk)

This should be the same as the previous address

  • E-mail Address - address of the account you are setting up

This will be the address you chose when signing up in the following format: accountname@yourhostname.co.uk, replacing accountname with your account name and yourhostname.co.uk with the domain that you registered. For example info@joeblogs.co.uk

  • Username – Same as the full email address
Password – The password you received or chose upon making the account

Once you have this information tap the Settings icon from the home screen, scroll down to Mail, Contacts, Calendars and tap once

Host Name: The IMAP server address in the first part of this guide

User Name: The email address of the account you are setting up

Password: The password of the account you are setting up

Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server and input the same information used in the Incoming Mail Server and then tap Next

Next your iPhone will test and verify the account settings, this can take several minutes

On the next screen ensure that Mail is on to activate the mailbox. The Notes setting is optional depending on if you want to store notes in the mailbox or not. Next tap Save at the top right of the screen to go back to the list of email accounts on the iPhone

Next tap the name for the account you just created and tap where it says Account followed by your email address. At the bottom of the next screen tap Advanced as shown below and tap Sent Mailbox
